Taking A Break

I'm taking a break, literally. I have a broken right wrist and I am right handed. Typing is a very slow process. I am thinking of ideas though and I'll be back as soon as they let me use my right hand again.

I'm sorry to hear about your wrist. I hope it is better now.

I just wanted to thank you for your post on my blog! Through my exploration, I have come to the same conclusion as I usually do when it comes to people: "The squeeky wheel gets the oil". Only, I want to make sure that doesn't happen in this case.

I think the adoptees that are content with themselves and their lives tend to be "quieter" and more in the background then those who are not.

I think it is totally awesome that you adtoped your children! I too someday have aspirations of adopting a child. I visited my orphanage for the first time last year. I was abandoned when I was about 3 years old, and there are are no family records or history for me. So the orphanage president gave me her family name. I guess not having any family background was uncommon at this orphanage. Anyways, while I was there they had 1 child who was in a similar situation as I was so he was given the same last name as me! He was also the youngest in the orphanage at 5 years old.

This orphanage caters to children 5 years and older. However when I was there I was only 3 and also the youngest! (The president apparently made an exception when the police brought me there). My heart just broke when I met this boy at the orphanage! It was like looking into a mirror!

After thinking about it, I wondered if adoptees are best to adopt because they have experienced it and might have an advantage on raising another adoptee? I was wondering if any other adoptees have this "tug" on them to adopt because they were adopted? I also wonder if adoptees are more likely to adopt then non-adoptees? I barely know any other adoptees.

You are the first person I have come across who was an adoptee and then adopted children. I think it is so awesome!

Can I ask a personal question? Do you think you had a stronger affinity to adopt because you were an adoptee? Do you think it gives you and advantage in raising your child?

Thanks!

Hi!

I actually just ran across your blog while doing some research on Korean adoptees. I am a freshman at Emory University in Atlanta and am currently taking a "Contending Korean American Identities" class, which I will soon be presenting on Korean adoptees this next week.

I must say though that I loved reading your blogs. I love the way you write and your topics as well. Definitely want to see how your autobiography turns out! Also, it was very different for me to see Korean adoptees from the parent perspective ... or an adult perspective in general. Most of the people I know that are Korean adoptees are all my age and also living in Ohio! (I am from Columbus).

Even when my presentation is done, I will definitely keep up with your blog!

Hope your wrist heals quick :)
